Before you go ahead, ensure that you have created a Netflix account and boast an active subscription. On the other hand, you should have a Roku account and got your Roku device ready.

How to Set up Netflix on Roku?
Here’s a rundown of steps to set up Netflix on Roku.
- Turn on the Roku device and access the home screen using the remote.
- Navigate to “Home” and click on “Netflix”. (If you don’t find Netflix, use the remote to navigate to the “Movies & TV” section and tap on “Netflix”. Tap on the “+Add channel” button to add the app to your Roku. Click on the “go-to channel” option to get started.)
- On the Netflix home screen, you need to “Sign In”.
- There you go! Your Roku device is connected to your Netflix account.
The above steps apply to all Roku models except Roku 1.
Set up Netflix on Roku 1
If you have a Roku 1 model, here’s how you can set up your Netflix account.
- Access the Roku home screen using the remote.
- Navigate to “Home” and click on “Netflix”. (If you don’t find Netflix, use the remote to navigate to the “Movies & TV” section and tap on “Netflix”. Tap on the “+Add channel” button to add the app to your Roku. Click on the “go-to channel” option to get started.)
- On the Netflix home screen, select “Yes” on the screen that says “Are you a member of Netflix?” (You must be a member.)
- You will receive a unique activation code.
- Note down the code and access the activation page – netflix.com/activate.
- Enter the code.
- That’s it! Your Roku device is connected to your Netflix account.

How to Sign out of Netflix on Roku?
Below, I have made sure the steps are clear enough to assist you to sign out of the Netflix account on your Roku device. Different Roku models have different sign-out procedures to follow. Take a look –
Sign out of Netflix on Roku Express, Premiere, and Ultra
- Go to the Netflix home screen, navigate left, and click on the “Get Help” button. (Didn’t find “Get Help”? Navigate up and select the “Settings” icon.)
- This will open the menu. You need to select the “Sign out” option.
- Upon prompted, click on the “Yes” button to confirm.
You have successfully signed out of your Netflix account on Roku.
If you didn’t find the “Get Help” option even after navigating up and selecting the “Settings” icon, follow the sequence on your remote – “Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up”. Now, select “Sign out” > “Start Over” > “Deactivate”, or “Reset”.

Sign out of Netflix on Roku Stick, Roku 3 and Roku 4, and Roku TV

Sign out of Netflix on Roku 1
- Access the Roku home screen and go to “Settings”.
- Navigate to “Netflix Settings”.
- Look for “Deactivate this player from my Netflix account” and click on the “Yes” button.
- Your Roku 1 device is deactivated.
Sign out of Netflix on Roku 2
- Turn on your Roku device and go to the home screen.
- Select “Netflix” and press the “Star” key on your remote.
- Next, you need to highlight “Remove channel”.
- Confirm the same by selecting the same option, i.e. “Remove channel” again.
- Your Roku 2 device is deactivated.
Note: You can reset it by accessing “Movies & TV” > “Netflix”.
